Being happy

I'd like to start this off by saying that I'm quite dramatic. When most people see something as a setback, I see it as, pretty much, the end of my life. So when I combine this with Instagram and Facebook, it can get a little too much. I won't lie to you, I've had drunken nights wailing down the phone to my best friend about not having 3 dogs, a beautiful home and an adorable baby. Which is odd to say the least because babies kind of scare me.
So there you have it. With this in mind, I've just spent two weeks ill in bed, first with a chest infection, then with complications caused by the antibiotics I was taking. But during all this, I had plenty of time to think about life in general. I had time to think about how true the old saying "Don't compare your you beginning to someone else's' middle" is. In this day and age, it's so easy for us to get jealous of others, often people we hardly know, and that can often take away from our own happiness, especially if you're already having a bad day or week.
What I've found helps in these situations is to bring the focus back on yourself and think about all the things in your life that make you happy, or all the things you've achieved that make you happy. For example, 2 months ago I tried a yoga class for the first time and was so awful at it. I persevered however, and now I look forward to going every Tuesday. I mean, yeah I'm by no means the best in the room but I'm constantly improving and the joy I get out of that is quite frankly priceless.
So look around today and think about what makes you happy and appreciate it, whether its your child, your ability to do something or even something as simple as a great hair day - seize the moment and shine.

    1. Thank you! You totally should although the first class felt like the hardest thing I have ever done. But by class number 3 it all felt a lot easier. Imagine if I also practised at home! :)
